Sports Injuries

You practice hard and you play hard and you take all of the preventative measures for your safety and you still got hurt.  Is this you?  Maybe you’ve done everything you can to protect your children during their activities and yet – they came home from the game limping or in pain.

There are many different types of sports injuries and just as many causes that can trigger a sports injury to the foot or ankle.  The most common injuries to the foot and ankle include overuse and strain injuries.  Some of the common problems that we see in our offices include a simple solution of understanding what type of footwear is needed to help give you proper movement and support for the sport that you or your child participate in.  Occasionally there are those foot injuries or ankle injuries that require some additional medical help – don’t worry, you aren’t out of the game – you are just on your way to healing.

When an injury has occurred, it can be very painful and take a longer period of time to heal properly if not treated right away.  We recommend getting all foot and ankle sports injuries checked out by one of our Podiatric Physicians as quickly as possible.  The majority of injuries that are seen in our office are the result of falls, being struck in contact sports, and overexertion.  It is also important to note, the national average is that over 60% of injuries during organized sports occur while practicing so it is important to pay attention to your symptoms before the big game or event so you can be at your best when it’s time.

The additional wear and tear of excessive use on the joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons in the foot and ankle from repetitive motion can cause many of the injuries and issues listed below.  Please look at the information on our website and let us know if we can help you or answer any additional questions that you may have.  Click here to contact us today or we invite you to call the office and schedule an appointment (610) 432-9593.
